By Janet Kelly and Meredith Gallo
REMEMBER waaay back when Black Friday was one day of big sales immediately following Thanksgiving Day? Fast forward to November 2024. We have Black Friday preview sales and early Black Friday sales (ending November 24 and November 25), archive sales, final sales, sales of the year and holiday deals. Nordstrom’s “real” Black Friday sales begin—on November 21—the day its early Black Friday sales end. It does make me wonder whether there will be anything left to save money on come November 29, traditional Black Friday.
However, for the nonce, MyLittleBird contributor Meredith Gallo and I found some fun socks, jeans nice enough to wear out for dinner, pjs for chic sleep/ lounging, even a weighted walking vest with health benefits.
Here’s what’s in our carts:
Sparkly Bow Embellished Cardigan
Janet: Bows are back in full force and looking especially appealing encrusted with rhinestones on this cardi, which is selling for $88.50 until November 24 at Bloomingdale’s.
Meredith: Weighted walking vests are really popular right now and they’re supposed to help with bone strength. According to VeryWellHealth, “Adding a weighted vest to your walking routine has many benefits. A vest can also build bone density, increase muscle mass, burn more calories than walking alone, and improve balance and core strength.” With an 8-pound weight included, the vest sells for $35.99 from Amazon.
Janet: I bought these trouser-like jeans for full price and don’t regret it. But, during 7 For All Mankind’s Black Friday Preview, take an extra 25% off sale with code: SHOPEARLY. They’re $146, reduced from $208.
Utility Shirt in Washable Silk
Janet: Pockets give a sporty look in a luxe fabric for the final sale price of $75 from Everlane.
Janet: During Serena and Lily’s “sale of the year,” these airy linen pjs are $98, instead of $168. They come in three other colors.
Meredith: I have three pairs of these from Amazon. They’re cheap ($54.90) but don’t look like it, and they come in so many color ways. Great for weddings and holiday parties.
Janet: A J. Crew “Holiday Deal,” this crisp poplin button-down is selling for $42.50, down from $98.
Janet: Is it just me or are jackets more user-friendly than coats? Besides the pretty hue, this one from REI Co-op offers 650-fill-power down for warmth and a windproof, water-resistant shell fabric. Until November 25, it’s on sale for $77.39.
Janet: I’ve also been eyeing this 650-fill-power down jacket from Uniqlo. It’s $69.90 until November 21.
Meredith: I really like these socks from Amazon; they could be a fun stocking stuffer (pun intended). Three pairs are $13.99; five for $19.99.
Fair Isle Sweater in Merino Wool
A fair isle sweater that looks more grownup girl than kid with shades of deep lavender, merlot and cream. In Brooks Bros. 30% off site-wide sale, it’s $173.60, down from $240.
Janet: I think this cute little belt bag (7″ x 2″ x 4 1/2″ D) with an adjustable strap will be perfect for my trip down under this coming February. It’s on final sale from Athleta for $19.97.
All about puffer jackets for my daily exercise walk, particularly if the zippers open from the top or bottom for air.
I’m thinking of getting the Uniqlo one.
