WE REALLY hit the holidays hard this past week. Kitchen Detail’s Nancy Pollard shared her family’s Christmas Eve menu, which includes a hearty pastry dish made with mortadella, the fancier, tastier version our sturdy bologna. And Green Acre’s Stephanie Cavanaugh offered a legacy recipe for Hanukkah, her mother’s potato latkes. And no, you don’t have to be Jewish to love them!
Meanwhile, Janet Kelly showed us how to shop our closet to spark up our basics for the hols. Or, okay, buy just a little something extra to elevate our party look. Lurex tights to the rescue!
On the more serious side, Well-Being columnist Mary Carpenter talked about the spate of wildfires that have sent air-quality indices in the Northeast into the alarm zone. Bad for the lungs, sure; but also linked to other conditions long-term.
Valerie Monroe of How Not to F*ck Up Your Face renown found guidance for a reader who disliked the hyperpigmentation of her underarm area. And tomorrow she will be back with some advice about dealing with serious (and not-so-serious) scars.
So Val will be here in your inbox tomorrow. Then, on Tuesday, Mary Carpenter will deliver the bad news about alcohol. After that, from Wednesday, Christmas Day and the first night of Hanukkah, through to New Year’s Day, MLB will be taking a “long winter’s nap.” Not really—we’ll be out partying and having seasonal fun, we hope like the rest of you.
But first: See you tomorrow! And have a wonderful holiday season!
