The Week That Was, 5.28.2022

May 28, 2022

It’s Memorial Day. We LittleBirds flew off for the long weekend. See you on Tuesday. OMG, that’s tomorrow already!

THERE’S NOT A LOT of forgiveness in the world right now. Ukraine and Uvalde compete for space in our brains as we point fingers every which way.

But How Not to F*ck Up Your Face columnist Valerie Monroe still has forgiveness on her mind: In past weeks she has written about forgiving ourselves, mostly for harshly judging ourselves and our aging looks. But this week she wrote about allowing ourselves the most forgiving lighting! Especially surrounding the bathroom mirror. Yes!

In the spirit of celebrating who we grownup girls really are, LittleBird Janet extolled the Coastal Grandmother look: Think beige linen, white cotton, easy and breezy to pull off. Top it all with a straw hat and, voilà!, we’re all in a Nancy Meyers movie (you be Diane Keaton, I’ll be Meryl Streep, okay?).

Over in the garden, Green Acre columnist Stephanie Cavanaugh said things were looking up, albeit in an all-too-green way. To perk up the acreage, she pointed out some colorful additions to the bloom-challenged season.

On the health front, Well-Being columnist Mary Carpenter told a cautionary tale involving anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil, while contributing columnist Andrea Rouda reported on her own triumph over knee pain using acupuncture.
