GOODBYE, 2015, welcome, 2016. As is customary at the end of one year and the beginning of a new one, we’ve made some resolutions. At the tippy top of our list is continuing to make MyLittleBird a site you not only enjoy reading but also that informs and expands your horizons in D.C. and beyond.
We’ve made some changes to the site in 2015, most notably our Weekend Reading column, which every Friday features an excerpt from a selection of new books from authors like humorist Patricia Marx and fiction writer William Boyd. And for that feat and so many others (like producing our super Shop Opp), thanks goes to my uber-talented right-hand (wo)man, Managing Editor Nancy McKeon. Well-Being Editor Mary Carpenter was out on assignment in the first half of this year, but we’re delighted to have her back now, writing so knowledgeably on subjects of interest to all of us, including memory loss, how to increase confidence and dietary advice. I for one always learn something new and useful from her well-researched stories. We couldn’t do without the creativity of Art Director Kathy Legg, who never fails to come up with the photos that tell the story best. And, she writes, too, and is a first-rate photographer in her own right (see her story on The Greenbrier and her photos of Paris in Georgetown). We’d also be lost without our multi-talented, multi-tasking Social Media Director Anne Kisslinger, who can turn a complicated article into a short, pithy post on Facebook or Twitter and can weave magic with photos on Instagram.
Let us know how you think we’ve done in the past year, what you’d like us to tell you more/less about and how we can be your best guide to living well in D.C. in 2016. Drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org! In the meantime, all the Little Birds wish all of you a very Happy New Year.
