Hot New Beauty Buys

July 22, 2014

SUMMER’S ALL ABOUT cheerful colors, having fun and getting away (if only in your mind). These new hot-weather goodies are frankly fabulous.

Mehron INtense Pro Pressed Powder Pigments in Fire ($52.95). This bright octet of deeply pigmented yet blendably sheer matte powders is almost too pretty to actually, like, use. From Purple Heat (an inviting violet) to Ignite (an easy-breezy medium blue), to Fire Island (an emerald green) – your eyelids will rival peacocks’ plumage.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Tulip ($22.50). Inspired by the pink petals of the 60,000 tulips planted annually along Manhattan’s Park Avenue, this protective, instantly hydrating balm is a warm, sunny, pink wonder.

Deborah Lippmann Limited Edition Nail Lacquer in Flash Dance and Just Dance ($20 each). Mani maven Deborah Lippmann has clearly caught Saturday night fever with these disco-tastic, kaleidoscopic, full-coverage glitters. Flash Dance is an unabashedly neon purple-hot pink, and Just Dance is a dazzling sapphire-turquoise-citrine. Is that Donna Summer blowing us a kiss from up in the starry heavens?

Deborah Lippmann 80’s Rewind Summer 2014 Nail Lacquer Collection ($18 each). If the 1980’s are more your speed, then these nail colors will rock your world. Respectively named after six chart-topping  hits – e.g., Don’t Stop Believin’ (a diva-worthy red-orange); Walking On Sunshine (better than golden bangles); and She Drives Me Crazy (an ultra-femme teal) – these are as groovy as we remember that whole decade was.

Bio-Oil ($9.59 for the 2-ounce size). No matter how amazing all the stuff is that I’m showing you, tired eyes, chapped lips, and raggedy cuticles won’t cut it. So wherever you go, do not leave home without this TSA-approved multitasker, especially if you’re getting on a plane. Bio-Oil is a cult classic that smells like an English garden and feels like silk, anywhere: Tap it under your eyes to help reduce dark circles; smooth it across your lips to soften and soothe them; rub it into your cuticles to keep them pliant and moisturized. I could go on. You get the idea.

Breakups To Makeup Makeup Clutch ($35). Now you need something to put everything in. This roomy, lined, canvas makeup-travel bag is possibly the cutest one ever created. Silk-screened across it is a big fat red lipstick and these immortal words: “Love Raised Me Lipstick Saved Me.” Containment doesn’t get better than that.
