SPIRITED LITTLE GIRLS and their moms in pretty spring prints settled down on May 10 to enjoy scones, tea sandwiches and a fashion show of local models wearing Lilly Pulitzer. The Tickled Pink event, put on by the Fairmont Washington and Pink Palm Bethesda Row (a Lilly Pulitzer store), was the 11th annual Mother/Daughter Fashion Show benefiting Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.
Master of ceremonies NBC-4 meteorologist Doug Kammerer narrated as hometown notables, including local news anchors Eun Yang, Angie Goff and Lesli Foster, walked down the runway with their young daughters in the latest Pulitzer styles.
Festivities included a photo booth op and a silent auction that offered chances to win a night’s stay at the Palomar Hotel in D.C. and the Fairmont in Bermuda. A basket of Kerastase goodies, even a Casablanca fan were up for the highest bid.
But the most touching moment of the day went to Sue Schiffman and daughter Julia. A few weeks ago, the 7-year-old was granted her wish to go to Disneyland with her family and see her favorite princesses. Mom got her wish, too. Julia has now been diagnosed cancer-free.
